Gertrude Pollard

THE funeral service for Gertrude (Trudy) Pollard, of Taylor House, Uppingham, took place at Uppingham Parish Church, Canon Rachel Watts officiating.

Trudy died at Peterborough City Hospital, aged 89.

She was the daughter of Clifford and Ethel Price and worked as an usherette at Uppingham Cinema before working in a chip shop, at A Wills factory and finally at Uppingham School.

She served with the WRAF during the Second World War working on barrage balloons and repairs on Lancaster bombers.

A member of the Church of England, she played whist and was a member of the whist league. She also enjoyed playing bingo, and watching cricket and horse racing.

Widow of James Pollard, she leaves her daughter Giva and son John.
