Matwij Peleszko

MATWIJ (Martin) Peleszko, of Burley Crescent, Oakham, died at Abbey Court Nursing Home, Bourne, aged 91.

Born on the outskirts of Kiev in the Ukraine, Martin came to the UK during the Second World War and in 1951 married Joan; they had two daughters.

Martin had always worked on the land and following several jobs in and around Stamford he finally went to work at Stocken Hall Farm, Stretton, where he remained until his retirement in 1985.

He was awarded the Imperial Service Medal for outstanding service to the Queen in 1985.

In his latter years he was blighted with worsening vision and deafness, however he was still able to focus on DIY projects and look after his precious garden.

The funeral service took place at Marholm Crematorium, the Rev Neville Ashton officiating.
