MILDRED (Millie) Walton died at Peterborough City Hospital, aged 98. The funeral service took place at St Mary’s Church, Manton, the Rev Stuart Mitchell officiating. Organist was John Hill.

Millie was born at Lyddington, the eldest of 10 children born to Frank and Kate Bryan.

She lived in Rutland all her life and was educated at Egleton School, Oakham National School and Oakham Central School.

She was married to her late husband, Sep, in Egleton Church in 1931. After their marriage they moved to Manton and Millie lived there until January, 2010, when she moved to Quorn Grange, Rutland Care Village.

She was a sociable and well-respected member of the community, belonging to the Women’s Institute and Mothers’ Union and was on the parochial church council and village hall committees for many years.

She is survived by four daughters, 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
