Philip Sharp

PHILIP Sharp, of Finkey Street Flats, Oakham, died at his home aged 51. He was the oldest son of Esther Sharp and the late Sydney Sharp and was educated at the Vale of Catmose College in Oakham. He was a loving father to Kevin and Leanne and was a well-loved character, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Philip served an apprenticeship as a plumber with Mick Hubbards of Oakham, and then worked for Federal Express as a driver. He also worked for some time at RPC Containers. In 1997 Philip suffered head injuries which meant that he was no longer able to continue working. During his rehabilitation he enjoyed many hobbies, including swimming, taking part in sponsored swimming and walking.

A life-time member and avid supporter of Leicester City Football Club, he regularly attended Leicester football matches as well as enjoying watching football games on the TV. Through his love of football he met many people and was well-known in the Oakham area; known to some by the nickname ‘Toffee’. He also spent his free time visiting family, friends and listening to music.

The funeral service took place at All Saints’ Church, Stamford, followed by interment at Stamford Cemetery.
