Police investigating a fatal crash between a car and a lorry on the A6003 in Rutland have appealed for sightings of the vehicles involved.

The crash happened this morning (Wednesday, December 9) at Manton Bridge. The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, and four others were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed A47 at Uppingham and the A606 at Oakham for several hours but has now reopened.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said the car involved was a white Vauxhall Corsa.

The added: “The car was travelling from Uppingham towards Oakham when it was involved in a collision with the lorry. We would like to speak to anyone who was travelling along the A6003 during the early hours of this morning who may have witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle being driven beforehand.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 3101837 George Dodson on 101.
