A keen runner is hoping to set up a Parkrun event at Rutland Water and is holding an event next month to recruit volunteers.

The Parkrun organisation organise and support 5k runs throughout the UK, which are free and open to all, in a bid to encourage people to run. The runs take place at 9am every Saturday morning.

Paul Rogerson, from Rutland Run and Tri Club, is among those hoping to set one up for Rutland, which would start in the autumn, but needs volunteers to get it off the ground.

An event will take place on Wednesday, June 10, at 7pm, at Egleton Bird Watching Centre at Rutland Water. This meeting is open to anyone interested in finding out more.

Volunteering roles vary from course marshalling to timekeepers, as well as run directors and volunteer coordinators.
