Parliamentary hopefuls to debate at Bourne school

Rutland and Stamford Mercury, Rutland Times and The Local editor Mark Edwards will chair a political debate between parliamentary candidates.

The Question Time-style event will take place at Bourne Grammar School at 7pm on Friday, April 24.

The panel of candidates for the Grantham and Stamford constituency will include Nick Boles (Con), Aidan Campbell (Green), Barrie Fairbairn (Labour), Harrish Bisnathsing (Lib Dem) and Marietta King (Ukip). The candidates will answer questions posed by the audience.

People can submit questions in advance by e-mailing debate@bournegrammar.lincs.sch.uk.

The event will be free of charge and open to pupils, staff, parents and members of the public. The school hopes pupils and in particular young people who will be eligible to vote for the first time in the General Election on May 7 will take part.
