Firefighters from Bourne found themselves redirected between two villages on the A15 after report of a hedgerow blaze in the area this morning.

A crew from Bourne was originally called out to a reported fire in King Street, Thurlby, just after 9.15am.

But it later emerged that the fire was in King Street, Langtoft, about four miles from Thurlby.

By the time the crew arrived the fire had been put out by a member of the public, leaving about a metre of hedgerow burnt.
