AN electronics technician has also been awarded an honour in the Queen’s Birthday List.

Peter Williams, of Lonsdale Road, Oakham, has been given the commander in chief air commander’s commendation.

He received the honour for his work on the harrier and for helping to train junior naval officers.

Mr Williams served in the RAF for 22 years and left in 1991 but now works as a civilian at RAF Wittering.

He said: “I’m overwhelmed, it was a bit of a surprise as I was only doing my job.”
