A man was airlifted to hospital after a car crash in Frognall.

Police were called to the B1525 Spalding Road, near the junction with Hards Lane, at about 4pm yesterday (September 30). A Volkswagen Polo and an Iveco van had crashed.

The driver of the Polo, a man in his 70s from the Peterborough area, was taken to hospital by a team from the Magpas air ambulance charity for treatment. The van driver is not thought to have been seriously hurt.

The road was closed and re-opened just before 9.30pm.

A Magpas spokesman said: “The Magpas team provided the patient with advanced pain relief, before flying him to Peterborough City Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the man was in a stable condition.”

Witnesses to the crash should call 101 quoting incident 279 of September 30.
