Better Healthcare 4 Stamford launches petition to end 'monopoly' of GP services by Lakeside Healthcare
A community group is calling for the end to a 'monopoly' over GP services in the area.
Better Healthcare 4 Stamford has launched an online petition asking those responsible for commissioning GP services in Stamford and the surrounding area to provide people with a choice of GP service providers.
Lakeside Healthcare Stamford is currently the single provider of NHS doctors in the town.
Over the past few years the Corby-based provider has taken control of the running of the Sheepmarket Surgery in Ryhall Road, St Mary's Medical Centre in Wharf Road, and the now-closed Little Surgery.
Lakeside Stamford has undergone an inspection by the Care Quality Commission this week, which rates GP surgeries so that patients can choose the best quality healthcare.
The outcome of the latest inspection is not yet known, but a previous inspection in September 2019 found it to be 'good' in all areas.
