Stamford Photographic Society’s first meeting of 2016 provided an opportunity for members to display their talents in the ‘open’ competition.

David Townshend won the both the single image and group sections with graphic black and white shots taken during the brief morning of snow cover so far this winter.

Second place for an individual image was new member Veronica Watson’s image of Nepalese holy men. This was very impressive as it was Veronica’s first competition entry. Third and fourth were Dave Baxter’s dusk shot of City Hall on London’s South Bank and St John Burkett’s strikingly framed monochrome image ‘Vatican Saints.

Members also viewed – and were inspired by - a presentation of the Royal Photographic Society’s International Projected Image Exhibition.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 18, at 8pm, when the competition will be ‘Closer and Closer’.
