Pied wagtail enjoying new holiday home in Bulwick

A pied wagtail is enjoying an extended at a Rutland campsite after setting up home in a motorhome.

The unexpected made itself cosy in a Coachman motorhome at New Lodge Farm Caravan and Campsite in Bulwick.

Jamie Walsh and his partner were due to leave the site two weeks ago, but when preparing to depart, the happy campers discovered they had an extra guest – a pied wagtail had taken up residency in the vehicle's battery compartment and laid five eggs.

The bird is now enjoying an prolonged vacation after the vehicle's owners decided to leave it where it was until the chicks have fledge and left their new home.

Jackie and Brian Creasey, who manage the site, said: "We are delighted that this wagtail has decided to nest at New Lodge Farm and relax, recharge and refresh, which is the campsite ethos."
