Plans to transform Bourne surgery are on track
An exciting scheme to transform a crucial medical centre in Bourne is set to open in the next few weeks.
The ambitious blueprint to extend Bourne Galletly Medical Practice in North Road is bang on track after getting the go-ahead almost two years ago.
Dr Rebecca Mitchell, who’s based at the surgery, said: “We are delighted with the way with the expansion has gone.
“These are exciting, positive times for the medical centre.
“This extension will take us to a whole new level and more importantly means that we can give our patients an even better health service.”
She said furniture was set to be delivered next week as workmen put the finishing touches to the new scheme - approved by South Kesteven District Council in December 2016.
“We’ll have an extra 10 consulting rooms.
“We will have a full new administration suite on the higher level and new operating theatre on the ground floor,” said Dr Mitchell, who’s been at the practice for six years.
“The theatre’s as good as it gets in the community.
“Hospitals need us to offer more primary care and the more care we can give patients the safer they will be.
“We are also able to give people faster appointments - seeing people within an hour.
“We are now offering extended access from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday - meaning patients see doctors more quickly.”
She said the historic practice, which dates back to the early 1900s, has almost 12,000 patients in Bourne and the surrounding area.
“Patients are thrilled,” said Dr Mitchell.
“They have given us brilliant feedback.
“Our vision is to offer a friendly but efficient, effective health service here.”
