LEARN MOREThe vandalism of a town’s playarea has been condemned by a town councillor to try and prevent the issue once and for all.
Explicit images have been drawn on several pieces of equipment at the Wellhead Park in Bourne, which in 2017 underwent a revamp costing more than £150,000 raised by volunteers.
Coun Robert Reid (Con), who is on Bourne Town Council and South Kesteven District Council is determined to resolve the ongoing issue.
Coun Reid said: “We need to look after our community and a lot of our society does.”
As a solution, a CCTV camera funded by South Kesteven District Council will be installed near the playarea but the location has not been confirmed yet.
Coun Reid hopes at that this will prevent vandalism from taking place again and if not at least catch who did it on video footage.
“We do not have a large police presence in Bourne and so residents do do a fair bit to manage and deal with situation that the town faces,” Coun Reid said.
Surveys are currently being carried out to determine where the best suitable place would be for the camera.
Lincolnshire Police was unable to comment on the latest vandalism, which was discovered earlier this week.
