Schools and sports clubs are preparing to host a range of activities to keep children entertained during the half-term holiday.

Sports Xtra is inviting children aged five to 11 to join activity days at Stamford Queen Eleanor School on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week for games, sports, team challenges, dance and adventure.

Sacrewell Farm will host farm rambles, wildlife trails, tractor rides and scavenger hunts from tomorrow. On Friday, there will be a stargazing day with Peterborough Astronomical Society.

One Touch Football will be running coaching sessions at New College Stamford all week for four to 14-year-olds. Sessions will also take place at Oundle & King’s Cliffe Middle School on Tuesday and Wednesday and at Ketton Sports and Social Club on Thursday and Friday.

Stamford Arts Centre will host a Roald Dahl drop in day on Monday from 11am until 3pm. It includes crafts, rhymes and film screenings.

Tickets cost £5 for children (adults free).

On Wednesday, there will be a Gruffalo day with storytelling and film screenings at 11am and 2pm. Visitors may even meet the Gruffalo himself. Tickets cost £5 per child or adult.

On Friday, there will be a drop-in cartoon day between 11am and 3pm with drawing, crafts and film screenings. Tickets cost £5 for children (adults free).

A family nest box challenge will take place at Rutland Water tomorrow, from 10am until 12.30pm. It costs £8 per bird box and £1 per birdfeeder. Bookings can be made at

Peppa Pig and her brother George will appear at Cathedral Square, Peterborough, on Friday, for storytelling every hour from 2pm until 6pm.

South Witham Children’s Centre is hosting a free fun day on Wednesday from 10am until 1pm. It will have face painting, crafts, a ball pool and food.

A multi-sports camp is being held at Cottesmore Village Hall from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 3.30pm.
