Poem by class one at Deeping St James Primary School proves to be Premier League quality




Year one pupils at Deeping St James Primary School are celebrating after their poem, ‘My Different Friends’ celebrating diversity, was picked as the East of England regional winner and one of 21 winners from 25,000 poems submitted as part of the Premier League writing stars poetry competition.

The five and six year-olds along with Aimee Turner, class teacher and assistant head teacher, came together to write the poem and their prizes were a framed copy of their poem, poetry books and a poetry workshop.

Ian Wilkinson, headteacher, said: “I’m very proud of them.

“The wrote a poem as a class and their topic was diversity.”
