A 93-year-old poet hosted an event at her home in Oakham which raised £88 for Parkinson’s UK.

More than 20 guests were invited to attend the event which organised by Kathleen Mckinnon at her house.

The event featured Mrs Kckinnon reading three of her own poems and a sing-along with pianist Neville Favell, who performed classical songs and tunes from The Sound of Music.

Mrs Mckinnon said: “It was a very good day and went far better than I dared to imagine.

“The pianist was excellent.”
