Police app designed by Deepings officer gets award nods
An app designed to help police officers lives easier has been nominated for three separate awards.
Paul Cooper, from Market Deeping, launched Pocket Sergeant last year in a bid to help police officers and staff carry out the daily duties.
Since then the innovative app has been downloaded around 10,000 times on Android and Apple IOS and has received recognition in three different awards ceremonies, all taking place this month.
Paul, who works as a police officer in Spalding, will be attending the Digital Entrepreneur Awards 2015, as a nominee in the ‘Technical Innovation withing the Public Sector’ category. He has also been invited to the Appsters Awards 2015, of which Pocket Sergeant has been short listed in the ‘Most Influential Start-up’ category and the Cambridgeshire Digital Awards, as a finalist in the ‘Best Mobile App’ category.
Paul, who is delighted with the success of the app, said: “I remain committed to Pocket Sergeant and this is reflected by nominations for both local and national awards. The next step is to offer the product to police forces throughout England and Wales. It would be fantastic for them to come on board and have the app placed on their mobile devices.
“There is also an editing suite available so the app can be customised and updated accordingly with ease. Having all available information for police officers and staff at the touch of button will breed efficiency throughout the police service.”
