POLICE were called to an allotment in Stamford after the discovery of a human skeleton.

The allotments in Waterfurlong, Stamford, were cordoned off at 1.30pm yesterday by officers as a crime scene.

But a coroner attended and said the bones were of considerable age and were crumbling. The site was formerly a friary and next to a nunnery.

A local archaeologist was also called.
