Police patrol Rutland Showground area in Oakham

Police will continue to patrol the area around Rutland Showground following reports of anti-social behaviour over the weekend.

The Rutland Agricultural Society, which owns the Rutland Showground, accepted a booking for its site on the edge of Oakham from St Hilda’s Church, Darlington to run a Christian festival from Saturday (June 19) to Thursday (June 24).

However, there have been numerous reports of criminal activity and anti-social behaviour being committed by attendees.

Yesterday (June 20), officers made a number of arrests following disturbances in Oakham.

Police are encouraging people to continue to report any anti-social behaviour online or by calling 101. In an emergency people should call 999.
