It is alleged two male suspects, estimated to be in their mid 20s and dressed in dark clothing and wearing hoods assaulted their victim before fleeing empty handed.

PC Joe Lloyd of Oakham Police said: "There was a report of an attempted robbery in the Welland Way area of Oakham on Wednesday evening.

"The person involved didn't give any property over to the two male suspects.

"It is alleged that he was struck with an item that caused an injury to his forearm."

Police have asked that anyone who witnessed the incident to contact 101 quoting incident 19*26179.

The attempted robbery follows a spate of thefts from motor vehicles that took place in the same area on January 12.

"This is a timely reminder to take valuables out of the vehicles and ensure that they are locked and secured," he said.
