Police hand out 75 fixed penalty notices at New Year Covid breaches in Rutland and Leicestershire

A total of 75 fixed penalty notices were issued by Leicestershire Police to people breaking Covid rules over the New Year period.

Between 7am on New Year’s Eve (December 31) and 7am today (January 1), police received 191 reports of Covid breaches in Rutland and Leicestershire.

Of the 75 fines issued by the police force, 57 were for participating in a gathering of two or more people in a private dwelling under tier 4 rules.
