Police issue warning over scam phone calls

Stamford police have warned members of the public to not give away personal details over the phone.

The warning comes after several reports of fraudulent calls were reported to police.

In a Tweet, Community Policing Inspector Ian Martin said police had received reports of phone calls from the “Lincs Alert and Fraud departments” where the caller was asking for personal details.

“It is not a police officer,” said Inspector Martin. “It is a scam. The police do not ask for these details. Please ring 101 if you get called.”
