A POLICE inspector has hit out at hoax callers after a helicopter and firearms officers were called out to Ryhall.

Insp Johnny Monks has slammed the girl who made a 999 call to say that two boys had a gun in the village on Friday night.

The helicopter and firearms officers flew from force headquarters in Enderby, Leicestershire, and landed in Park Field Road only to find that the report was a hoax.

Insp Monks would like to press charges over the appalling waste of tax payers’ money in sending out the helicopter.

He said: “I am appalled, anyone who hoax calls any emergency service should be ashamed, it’s a waste of people’s time and resources. This valuable resource was sent to Rutland when it should have been doing something far more important just for a giggle for some youths in Rutland.

“If anyone knows who this girl is I want them to come forward and I will look at taking out charges against her. A lot of money being wasted here.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0116 222222.
