Police warn of counterfeit notes in Lincolnshire

Police have warned members of the public and businesses to be on the lookout for fake £20 notes circulating in the Lincolnshire area.

The notes are said to look genuine but to identify them as counterfeit, a slight orange tinge to the left of The Queen’s head and a little bleaching of purple around The Queen’s face can be seen.

Police said the notes were being used during busy periods when people did not have the time to scrutinise them fully.

There are batches of numbers being used, one being DJ10378073.

Anyone coming across one of these notes should hand it to their bank or building society.
