MORE than 800 Lincolnshire County Council workers will lose their jobs because of funding cuts.

Lincolnshire County Council has today issued consultation documents to 3,200 workers, which is about half its staff, with proposals to restructure the organisation.

As part of the proposals, 818 people will lose their job through voluntary or compulsory redundancies. This is equivalent to about 607 full-time jobs.

Separate consultation will take place later in the year with council support services staff.

Proposals for a restructure of adult social care staff have been out to consultation and a restructure of the senior management team has also taken place.

The county council had previously estimated that about 1,000 staff would lose their jobs, as it looks to save £125m over the next four years because of a 28 per cent reduction in its Government grant.
