A COUNTY councillor is looking forward to a busy year in her new role as vice chairman.
Coun Charlotte Farquharson (Con), who represents the Bourne Castle ward on Lincolnshire County Council, was appointed vice chairman at a meeting on Friday last week.
Coun Farquharson, of Westbourne Park, Bourne, is now preparing to combine her work as a councillor with the many official duties required of her new role.
She said: “I felt steady when I was chosen, but I am excited and pleased. I am quite used to speaking in public so that didn’t worry me.
“I was asked to stand, I didn’t ask for it, but I will go with it wholeheartedly. I have had a long discussion with my staff and the present chairman as to how we are going to manage it.
“There is a lot more going on this year with the jubilee and the Olympics. We will be splitting up where it makes sense.”
Coun Farquharson’s first engagements are citizenship ceremonies and mayoral appointments.
Her work as a governor of the Bourne Academy will carry on and she will also continue to be involved in the Willoughby Memorial Trust, along with various social engagements.
Coun Farquharson added: “My work takes me up to Lincoln but I will carry on with all the things I do in Bourne as much as I can.
“Bourne is a very good little town, the town council run it very well.”
