A NEW mayor of Uppingham was elected last night.

Dave Casewell, 63, of High Street West, Uppingham, was elected as mayor at the town council’s annual general meeting in the town hall.

Dave, who is a retired teacher, was not at the meeting himself as he was unwell but says his election has help to speed up his recovery.

He said: “I am delighted and am determined to do my best for the town.

“I am very grateful to my fellow councillors for electing me.”

His deputy will be David Ainslie of Lime Tree Avenue, Uppingham.
