COUNCILLORS will make a decision on plans to create two football pitches in Barleythorpe tonight.
Rutland County Council is holding a special council meeting at 7pm to discuss the plans which have been submitted by Oakham United Football Club to create two football pitches and a clubhouse on land next to the new Rutand County College site.
Members of the development control and licensing committee have asked for a full council decision on the matter as their votes were divided.
The club says the facilities are much needed in the town as they can currently only play at Catmose College. Residents in Barleythorpe are opposed to the plans due to fears about noise and light pollution.
The council will also discuss a retrospective planning application for a garden shed and children’s play house in Morcott which has also been referred to the meeting.
It will be held at the council’s Catmose offices in Oakham. For more information visit www.rutland.gov.uk
