VILLAGERS have been given extra time to save a playarea which was threatened with closure.
Rutland County Council was considering removing play equipment from The Banks in Whissendine because planning officers believe the land doesn’t have the necessary planning permission.
But on Monday evening they met with Whissendine Parish Council and agreed to give members more time to challenge the claim.
Parish clerk Jen Lacey said: “We don’t want this to become about winners and losers, we just want a facility for young people in the village.”
A county council spokesman added: “The committee deferred a decision on the playarea to allow the parish council to provide more information about the use of the site.”
