HOWLING wind did not stop hundreds of families enjoying a range of fun and games at RAF Wittering.
The base held its annual family fun day today (Friday) with activities for children and stalls from various RAF squadrons and military organisations.
The idea was to host most of the day outside, but strong wind and rain forced most of the exhibits into a hangar.
But the weather didn’t stop families from enjoying the day. Suzanna Gardener-Watts works at the base and brought her two children Ryan, six, and Ewan, four, to try out the games.
She said: “There are fewer planes this year but more for the on the ground for the children to do, so they like it better.
“They have already had a hot dog each, bought some inflatable planes and gone crazy on the bouncy castle.”
Station leader at the base, Group Captain Richard Hill, added: “It’s good to see how much interest there still is in the RAF. It’s nice to be able to give people a day to come along and have a bit of fun.”
