THE north approach into Uppingham could be transformed into a landmark celebrating Rutland.
Glaston civil engineering firm Smithers Purslow has applied to Rutland County Council to redevelop the A6003/A47 roundabout on the outskirts of Uppingham.
The firm wants to replace the planting in the centre with a tripod of oak beams, with a set of metal horseshoes attached to the top.
The structure as a whole would be about 26ft tall, 3ft of which would be the horseshoes.
Four oak fence-like structures around the edge of the roundabout will display the company logo.
