The RAF’s oldest squadron is holding a reunion.

The Number 1 (Fighter) Squadron Association will host an event for members and their partners at RAF Conningsby on May 16.

The squadron, which was based at RAF Wittering from 1969 to 2000, is famous for its involvement with Harrier jets.

Honorary marketing manager for the association Darin Tudor said: “The squadron has organised an incredible afternoon programme including lunch, a Hurricane flypast painted in the colours and distinctive livery of the decorated WWII 1 Squadron pilot ‘Darkey’ or Taffy Clowes, a Typhoon static display, visits to the simulator, and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight followed by a dinner in the officers mess.”
