The owners of a house at the centre of a planning row have been granted permission to retain the property as it stands.
Plans for the Pavilion in Home Farm Close, Burley, were originally drawn up and approved in 2004. Further alterations were approved in 2007, but since then development has gone beyond what was agreed.
The council had issued an enforcement notice for the building to be scaled back but the new owners, Anthony and Donna Barney, took it to appeal in July.
After one day of the planning inquiry, the couple submitted a new application to retain the extensions and the inquiry was adjourned until a decision was made.
The plans were approved by Rutland County Council’s development control committee on Tuesday despite neighbours’ complaints that the property is overbearing and out of character.
