Stamford Town Council supports resident’s objection to Tinwell Road homes

TOWN councillors will be writing to reiterate their objection to developing greenfield sites.

Stamford Town Council decided to write to South Kesteven District Council at a meeting on Tuesday.

It came after Coun Bob Sandall (Ind) and Coun John Dawson (Ind) put forward a motion asking the council to support residents, who are objecting to the inclusion of a 70-acre site between Tinwell Road and Empingham Road in the district council’s site allocation and policies development plan.

Commercial Estates Group has already said it wants to build 400 homes on the site and will be showing its proposals at a public exhibition, which will be held on Tuesday at Stamford Arts Centre and Wednesday at Malcolm Sargent Primary School.

The town council was consulted on the site allocation plans and objected to greenfield sites being developed but said that if they had to choose one, it should be the Tinwell Road site.
