Stamford Town Council to review spending after sock purchase

Town councillors will review their spending policies after it was revealed the council spent £13.85 buying socks.

The socks were bought for a Stamford Town Council employee for his work at the cemetery in Little Casterton Road, Stamford.

Town clerk Patricia Stuart-Mogg told a town council meeting on Tuesday the purchase was part of the employee’s uniform, which the council has to provide.

But Coun Maxine Couch (Ind) described it as a “little bit silly” and the council voted to review the policy on personnel spending.
