Tories hold Barnack and Glinton and Wittering in Peterborough City Council elections

THE CONSERVATIVE party retained its Barnack and Glinton and Wittering seats in the Peterborough City Council elections.

Voters went to the polls yesterday (Thursday) and chose to stick with the status quo in both wards.

In Barnack David Over (Con) held on to the seat he won in 2008 with 572 votes out of a total 838. Labour candidate Alex Hall received 143 votes while Alex Jamieson (UKIP) got 123. Turnout was 37 per cent.

In Glinton and Wittering, cabinet member for education, skills and university John Holdich (Con) beat Peterborough Sixth Form Union president Luke Pagliaro (Lab) by 1,157 votes to 266. Turnout was just 28 per cent.

Elections for the parish councils of Bainton and Ashton, Barnack, Helpston, Southorpe, Ufford and Wothorpe were uncontested.
