PUBLIC toilets in Uppingham will be getting a £10,000 makeover.

Uppingham Town Council has secured a £10,000 grant from the Local Strategic Partnership to improve the facilities in Market Square.

Talks are underway between the town council and Rutland County Council to discuss how the money will be spent and when the work might take place.

Mayor of Uppingham Peter Rees said: “The public toilets in Uppingham are badly in need of refurbishment and this is something we have been looking at for a while so we are pleased to receive this money.“

Uppingham Town Partnership and Uppingham First have been consulted on the plans.

Members feel improving the toilets would create a better impression for tourists and be welcomed by local shoppers and people with young children.
