Bourne Outdoor Pool opened for its 2018 season with a splash on Saturday

Between 200 and 300 people turned up throughout the day to take a dip in the near Olympic-sized heated pool on the Abbey Lawns.

Mandy Delaine-Smith is chairman of the management committee which runs the pool and was delighted to see so many people turn up to support the opening.

She said: â It was an absolutely wonderful turnout and the weather was good to us.â

The support continued on Bank Holiday Monday as well with dozens of swimmers turning out to make use of the outdoor pool - one of the largest surviving in the country.

Other than stopping Tuesday night fun nights for children due to poor attendance, it is business as usual this year for the pool which is open every day. Adult lane swimming on Saturday mornings, which was popular last year, also makes a return.
