Power surge blamed for fire in South Witham

Fire crews put out a fire in an electricity box attached to a house porch.

They used two hose reel jets and a dry powder extinguisher to put out the blaze on Wimberley Way, South Witham.

The fire at 7.24pm yesterday is being blamed on a power surge.

There was damage to the porch roof and a hedge. No-one was injured.
