SUPERFAST broadband speeds have been welcomed by a lawyer who works from home.
Lynne Male, of Bramble Grove, Stamford, said she had noticed a “huge difference” in her internet speeds since BT upgraded to fibre optic cables in the area.
Mrs Male, a costs lawyer, said the improvement, which had more than doubled download speeds to 100Mbps, had meant she could do more.
She said: “I use the internet all the time with my work and it was really quite slow before.
“You couldn’t even open up a page from a browser, whereas now I am finding it is a lot faster.
“It is faster printing e-mails or pages from the internet using the broadband and I am also receiving large files and attachments quicker, which is making my working day much smoother. It does make such a difference. I couldn’t believe it.”
Mrs Male says her teenage son had also been impressed by faster download speeds and she was now able to watch television programmes online for the first time without being interrupted by buffering.
She added: “It was awful when I tried to watch programmes before but it was amazing to be able to watch Come Dine With Me without it stopping and starting all the time.”
Five cabinets were installed in the town in November, as part of the improvement by BT Openreach, which was done three months ahead of schedule.
BT spokesman Paul Bimson said: “The arrival of superfast fibre broadband in Stamford is a huge boost for local homes and businesses.
“It is fantastic to see how it is already transforming the experience of the internet.”
New street cabinets will also be installed in Bourne this year, improving internet speeds of 4,800 homes and businesses, as part of the £2.5bn rollout.
