'Record-breaking' year for Bourne's 2019 Produce Show at the Abbey Church Hall which was organised by the Bourne Garden Club
The church hall of Bourne Abbey was blooming on Saturday (September 7) for the town’s produce show.
It was the 14th edition of the Bourne Garden Club-organised show and the hall was alive with vibrant colours of the numerous entries and people.
Marion Durrands, social secretary of the garden club and one of the show’s organisers, said: “It was really good.
“It was a record breaking show and the hall was very, very colourful with all the entries.
“We had 47 exhibitors and they put in 280 entries and that was the highest number we have ever had.
“There was certainly a real buzz in the room and the show was very well attended and supported by local people in the afternoon.
“I know the refreshments ladies said they were very busy.
“As we were next to the Abbey Church, there were two weddings.
“The bells were ringing and the sun was shining - it was a lovely atmosphere.
“We also had a lot of children’s entries and we had an art display by the Bourne U3A.
Marion said all the proceeds from the show were ploughed back into ensuring that the festival can continue and thanked every who contributed to the show and visited.
“I would just to say a big thank you to everyone who helped and supported the show,” she added.
“A special mention must go to the judges - Mr Joe Whitehead and Mrs Liz Pick.
“Also a big thank you to the members of the Bourne U3Awith their art display and they also had some entries in the show as well.”
