Thoughtless drivers have churned up verges in an area protected for its rich plantlife.

The damage at Little Warren Verges, a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) close to the village of Aunby, happened on Friday night last week, or on Saturday.

Julian Cardew from Carlby drives past the site most days and described what he saw as “absolute carnage” and “just like a battlefield”.
