Darren Tinkler gives Ryhall school pupils 'Roots to Food'

Children aged seven to 11 at Ryhall Academy have learnt about healthy eating from Oakham entrepreneur Darren Tinkler of ‘Roots to Food.’

Using food donated by Tesco in Bourne they made meals and became sugar detectives, learning how to swap sugar with healthy snacks and dips.

The children will now plan their own recipes, maybe using the school grown vegetables.

Headteacher Katy Walker said the event improved the children’s understanding of food to encourage healthier eating.

Ms Walker also praised Tesco and other companies who help support such events as part of the school’s Healthy Living, Healthy Eating curriculum.
