Rutland and Melton MP Sir Alan Duncan visited Brooke Hill Academy in Oakham to present pupils with their self-designed flag, which had been flying in Parliament Square as part of the 2015 Flag Project.

The 2015 Flag Project saw schools from across the country submit their design for their local area and culminated in 80 flags flying in Parliament Square between May 18 and 22. Smaller scale replicas were then paraded at Runnymede on June 15 in front of the Royal Family as part of the 800th Anniversary celebrations of the sealing of the Magna Carta.

Alan visited Brooke Hill to return the flag to the pupils who had designed it, addressing staff, pupils and parents during the school’s sports day.

Alan said: “This design does Rutland proud. The pupils can be very pleased to know that their flag made it all the way to Parliament and was seen by the Queen.”
