Running for all-weather track at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy

On Friday, October 18, all 630 pupils from Reception to Year 6 took part in a sponsored fun run to raise funds for an all-weather running track at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy.

After a lot of rain over in September and October, it was almost touch and go as to whether we would be able to ‘run’ the event.

Mrs Anderson, PE co-ordinator, said: “This is exactly why we need an all-weather track as for so many months the school field becomes unsuitable for the large numbers that need to access it.

"At present, we are limited when the field is too wet to use, however, an all-weather track would allow children to use the field every day, and be able take part in the daily mile.”

Mrs Anderson thanked not only all of the children for taking part in the event but also the staff who ran, walked and skipped with them.

The total raised to date is around £6,000, which is tremendous.

Pupils, families and friends have all got behind this event.

Future events include a stall at the Christmas fair, a quiz night and a fundraising football tournament.
