Twelve talented young writers have been selected to have their short stories published.

Last year, the English department at Bourne Academy promoted a national competition to create a 100-word story on the theme of 'Spine Chillers'.

The Young Writers organisation compiled an anthology called ‘Spine Chillers Tales from the Grave’ with the best stories included, and twelve Bourne Academy pupils made the cut.

Year 8 pupils Callum Davies, Oliver Fowkes and Migle Mickeviciute visited their old primary school in Thurlby to read out their thrilling short stories in a school assembly on Wednesday last week (March 16).

Katherine Finch, headteacher at Thurlby Community Primary Academy, said: “We are extremely proud of our former pupils.

"They were always studious and enthusiastic about their learning during their time at Thurlby and it comes as no surprise that they are going from strength-to-strength at Bourne Academy."
