Push the Boat Out day at Rutland sailing club
A sailing club that provides opportunities for people with all types of disability, will be hosting its Push The Boat Out event on Saturday, April 25.
Part of a nationwide initiative being organised by the Royal Yachting Association, the event at Rutland Sailability aims to encourage people with disabilities to try sailing and give children and adults of all ages the chance to have a sailing taster session at the club free of charge.
Sessions will be conducted by fully qualified instructors in specially modified boats from 10.30am until 3pm, with the last session starting at 2.30pm.
To book a session or to learn more about the sailing opportunities that Rutland Sailability provides, please contact Rutland Sailability: 01778 590338.
Based on the southern shore at Rutland Water, Rutland Sailability was founded 20 years ago and is a recipient of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The club provides training, support and equipment to enable members to enjoy the challenge of this physical activity in a safe, welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
About half of its members are able bodied and without them the club could not operate. Most members were not sailors before they joined.
