RAF Wittering rewards top achievers
The achievements of athletes and high performing personnel have been recognised at RAF Wittering.
Several awards were presented at the station’s weekly briefing, with Senior Aircraftman John Busby receiving the Airman of the Month award.
SAC Busby works in RAF Wittering’s busy C4i section which runs the station’s radios, telephones and IT networks.
He received his award for providing colleagues with a training programme in Microsoft SharePoint Online, with Flying Officer Simon Miskelly, Officer Commanding C4i, saying: “Senior Aircraftsman Busby formulated a complete programme of on the job training for his colleagues and was always willing to go above and beyond what is expected.”
The awards were presented by station commander Group Captain Tony Keeling.
Squadron Leader Mary Temple and Senior Aircraftman Chloe Finlay received awards for their achievements in the Lincolnshire Cross Country Running League.
Sqn Ldr Temple was chairman of the league from 2010 to 2018, while SAC Finlay was the overall winner of the Lincolnshire Cross Country League and was undefeated over the seven-race season.
SAC Finlay was also a co-organiser of the annual RAF Road Relays event, which took place at Wittering on June 6. Wittering men’s team dominated the race, winning by a margin of 3 min 34
Sqn Ldr Temple said: “It’s very nice to be well thought of and have your work appreciated, but the Lincolnshire League is a team effort and we all work well together. SAC Finlay and the men’s team at Wittering deserve their awards.”
